- Size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
- Medium weight yarn (size 4)
- Tapestry needle
Final Measurement:
Measures approx. 4″ wide. Fits a 20-23″ head circumference, standard adult.
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
hk – hook
Pattern:
Ch 13
Row 1: Dc in the 3rd ch from the hk and next 3 sts, sk next st, 2 dc in next st, ch 2, 2 dc in same st, sk next st, dc in last 4 sts, turn (11 sts).
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in next 4 sts, ch 5, sc in the skipped st from row 1, sc in each ch of the ch-5 sts (5 sc total), sk next 2 sts, dc 2 in ch 2 sp from previous row, ch 5, sc in each ch of the ch-5 sts (5 sc total), sk next 2 sts, dc in last 4 sts, turn.
Row 3: Ch 2, dc in each st across, turn (10 sts).
There are intentionally 10 sts in this row.
Row 4: Ch 2, dc in next 4 sts, ch 5, sc in between the 2 dc’s 2 rows down, sc in each ch of the ch-5 sts (5 sc total), dc 2, ch 5, sc in between the 2 dc’s 2 rows down, sc in each ch of the ch-5 sts (5 sc total), dc in last 4 sts, turn.
Adult size: repeat rows 3 and 4 until your piece measures 19”, ending with row 2.
Continue to sc evenly around the entire piece (11 sc’s on the other end of the headband) with 2 sc in each corner.
Sl st in first st, ch 1, turn.
Put both ends together (with right side facing out) and sl st through the back loop on one side and the front loop on the other side.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
