Materials:
- Size I, 5.5. mm crochet hook
- Medium weight (size 4) yarn, I used Lion Brand Ice Cream in “Strawberry Fraises,” Blueberry Bleuet,” Lemon Citron,” and “Chocolate Chocolat”. 1 skein of each needed. Each skein is 3.5 oz., 225 yards, and 47% cotton and 53% acrylic
- Tapestry needed
- Keychain rings (2), measure about 1″
- Button for wallet, 1″
Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(es)
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
sl st- slip stitch
Note:
The bag and wallet is made with 2 strands held together.
Gauge:
11 sts x 9 rows = 4″ square
Measurements:
The bag measures approx. 15.5″ wide by 12″ tall with a 10″ strap drop.
The wallet measures approx. 7.5″ wide by 5″ tall.
Body of Bag:
With pink yarn ch 41
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hk and each ch down until the end ch. Sc 5 in the end ch. Sc back down the other side of the foundation ch until the last st. Sc 5 in the last st, sl st in first st to join (88).
Rounds 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join (88).
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to join (88).
Round 6: Switch to yellow yarn, ch 2, hdc in the 3rd loop only in each st around, sl st to join (88).
Rounds 7-9: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to join (88).
Rounds 10-13: Switch to blue yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Rounds 14-17: Switch to brown yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Rounds 18-21: Switch to pink yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Rounds 22-25: Switch to yellow yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Rounds 26-29: Switch to blue yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Rounds 30-33: Switch to brown yarn, repeat rounds 6-9.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Strap Rings:
Hold your bag up and find the two end stitches on either side of the top opening of the bag.
Place a stitch marker here.
Cut a long piece of yarn and with your tapestry needle, sew a keychain ring to the side of the bag.
Work the needle through the ring and stitch about 5-6 times then weave in and out on the inside of the bag to secure.
Fasten off.
Repeat with the other side.
Strap:
With 2 strands held together, ch 1 over the keychain and sc 4, ch 1.
Row 1: Sc in each st across, turn (4).
Rows 2-65: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (4).
Fasten off leaving a long tail.
With tapestry needle, sew the end to the other keychain side of the bag.
Weave in ends.
Wallet:
With pink yarn ch 19
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hk and each ch down until the end ch. Sc 5 in the end ch. Sc back down the other side of the foundation ch until the last st. Sc 5 in the last st, sl st in first st to join (26).
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Round 4: Switch to yellow yarn, ch 2, hdc in the third loop only in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Rounds 5-6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Round 7: Switch to blue yarn, ch 2, hdc in the third loop only in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Rounds 8-9: Repeat rounds 5-6.
Round 10: Switch to brown yarn, ch 2, hdc in the third loop only in each st around, sl st to join (26).
Rounds 11-12: Repeat rounds 5-6.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
With blue yarn, pick up a st in the top middle stitch of the wallet and ch 8. Sl st in first st, ch 1, sc 8 in the ch 8 space, sl st in first st and fasten off.
Weave in ends.
