Using black yarn and a tapestry needle, sew on the eyes. Continue embroidering with black yarn to create the black section between and around the eyes, as shown.
Fasten off on the back. You may knot and trim these ends since they will be hidden between the two head panels during assembly.

Join black yarn and sc through both layers in each st around the body.
Sl st to the first sc to join.
Do not fasten off. Leave the yarn attached and continue to the Head Assembly.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Hanging Loop
Cut a long piece of ribbon, twine, or yarn and fold it in half.
Using your crochet hook, pull the folded center through the top center of the penguin’s head.
Pull the two loose ends through the folded loop and tighten gently.
Tie the loose ends together at the top to create a hanging loop.
Trim the ends as desired.
