Materials:

  • Medium weight (size 4) yarn
  • Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st(s) – stitch(es)

Gauge:

12 sts × 14 rows = 4″

Yarn Estimate (Hat – Worsted Weight)

– Baby: approx. 60–90 yards
– Toddler: approx. 90–120 yards
– Child: approx. 120–160 yards
– Adult: approx. 160–220 yards

Notes:

Make the hat and mittens in your desired size then continue on with the embellishment sections.


Bunny Hat (ivory):

All sizes start with 10 dc in a magic ring.

Baby 0–6 mo (40 dc)

Round 1: 10 dc in magic ring, sl st to join (10).

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (20).

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st repeat around, sl st to join (30).

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts repeat around, sl st to join (40).

Body: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join, for 6 rounds.


6–12 mo (48 dc)

Round 1: 10 dc in magic ring, sl st to join (10).

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (20).

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st repeat around, sl st to join (30).

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts repeat around, sl st to join (40).

Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts repeat around, sl st to join (48).

Body: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join, for 7 rounds.


Toddler 1–3 yr (52 dc)

Round 1: 10 dc in magic ring, sl st to join (10).

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (20).

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts repeat around, sl st to join (40).

Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts repeat around, sl st to join (48).

Round 6: Ch 2, 2 dc in the next st, dc in next 5 sts repeat around, sl st to join (56).

Adult 13+ yr (60 dc)

Round 1: 10 dc in magic ring, sl st to join (10).

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (20).

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st repeat around, sl st to join (30).

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts repeat around, sl st to join (40).

Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts repeat around, sl st to join (50).

Round 6: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts repeat around, sl st to join (60).

Body: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join, for 10 rounds.


Finishing

  1. Fasten off, weave in ends.

Bunny Mouth

Ch 7, 9, 11 (baby/toddler, child, adult)

Round 1:
2 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 4, 6, 8, 4 hdc in last ch.
Working down the opposite side: hdc in next 4, 6, 8, 2 hdc in last st, sl st to join.
(16, 20, 24)

Round 2:
Ch 1, 2 hdc in first 2 sts, hdc in next 4, 6, 8, 2 hdc in next 4 sts,
hdc in next 4, 6, 8, 2 hdc in last 2 sts, sl st to join.
(24, 28, 32)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew onto hat.

Bunny Ears

Make 2 in ivory and 2 in pink.

Ch 9, 11, 13 (baby, child, adult)

Round 1:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 6, 8, 10, 3 sc in last ch.
Working down the opposite side: sc in next 6, 8, 10, 2 sc in last st, sl st to join.
(16, 20, 24)

Round 2:
Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 6, 8, 10,
2 sc in next 3 sts,
sc in next 6, 8, 10, 2 sc in last 2 sts, sl st to join.
(24, 28, 32)

Round 3:
Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join.
(24, 28, 32)

Fasten off and weave in ends on pink ears only.

Lay the pink ear on top of the ivory ear. Using ivory yarn, sc through the back loops only of both layers around to join. Sl st to join.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew onto hat.

Position ears on hat, sew in place, and weave in ends on the inside.

Eyes

Eyes (Ivory)
Magic circle, ch 2, 10 dc in circle. Sl st to join, pull tight to close.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Pupils (Black)
Using a tapestry needle, embroider pupils onto the eyes by weaving yarn in and out 4 times from the center toward the outer edge.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sew eyes onto the hat and weave in all ends on the inside.

Bunny Mittens (ivory):

Materials

– Medium worsted weight yarn (size 4)
– Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
– Blunt needle

Abbreviations

– ch – chain
– sc – single crochet
– st(s) – stitch(es)
– sc2tog – single crochet 2 together
– sl st – slip stitch

Yarn Estimate (Per Pair)

– Baby: approx. 40–60 yards
– Toddler: approx. 60–80 yards
– Child: approx. 80–110 yards
– Adult: approx. 110–150 yards


Baby Mittens

Cuff

Ch 6

Rows 1–12: Sc in back loops only across, ch 1, turn.

Fold in half and sl st ends together through both loops to form cuff.


Mitten

Round 1: Ch 1, sc 16 evenly around. (16)

You will now work in the round.

Rounds 2–8: Sc in each st around. (16)

Round 9: Sc2tog, sc 1, repeat around.

Round 10: Sc2tog around. Fasten off.

Weave in end and close top neatly from the inside.


Toddler (Child, Adult) Mittens


Cuff

Ch 8 (9, 10)

Rows 1–14 (1–16, 1–18): Sc in back loops only across, ch 1, turn.

Fold in half and sl st ends together through both loops to form cuff.


Mitten (Make 2)

Round 1: Ch 1, evenly sc 18 (20, 22) around cuff. (18, 20, 22)

Continue working in the round. Place stitch marker.


Increase Rounds

Round 2: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 5 (7, 9). (20, 22, 24)

Round 3: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 7 (9, 11). (22, 24, 26)

Round 4: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 9 (11, 13). (24, 26, 28)

Round 5: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 11 (13, 15). (26, 28, 30)

Round 6: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 13 (15, 17). (28, 30, 32)


Toddler & Child Sizes Only

Round 7: Sc 8, skip next 8 sts (thumb opening), sc 12 (14). (20, 22)

Rounds 8–13 (8–16): Sc in each st around.


Shaping

Round 14 (17): Sc2tog, sc 2, repeat around.

Round 15 (18): Sc2tog, sc 1, repeat around.

Continue repeating decrease rounds until 5 sts remain.

Fasten off. Weave in end and close top neatly from the inside.


Adult Size Only

Round 7: Sc 10, 2 sc in next st, sc 1, 2 sc in next st, sc 19. (34)

Round 8: Repeat Round 7. (36)

Round 9: Sc 11, skip next 10 sts (thumb opening), sc 15. (26)

Rounds 10–23: Sc in each st around.


Shaping

Round 24: Sc2tog, sc 2, repeat around.

Round 25: Sc2tog, sc 1, repeat around.

Continue repeating decrease rounds until 5 sts remain.

Fasten off and weave in end.


Thumb (All Sizes)

Join yarn at thumb opening by inserting hook into first and last skipped sts and pulling up a loop.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly around opening: 8 (8, 10).

Continue working in the round.

Rounds 2–4 (2–5 for child): Sc in each st around.

Final Round:
– Toddler/Child: Sc2tog around.
– Adult: Sc2tog 5 times.

Fasten off. Weave in end and close from the inside.

Ears for Mittens

Make 4

Using a size G (4.5 mm) crochet hook

With pink yarn, ch 5.

Round 1:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in last ch.
Working down the opposite side: sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st, sl st to join.
(10)

Switch to ivory yarn.

Round 2:
Ch 1, sc in the blo of each st around with 2 sc in the top stitch, sl st to join.
(10)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew onto mittens.

Position ears on mittens, sew in place, and weave in ends on the inside.

Nose

Using pink yarn and a tapestry needle, embroider a small triangle-shaped nose onto the mitten.

Fasten off and weave in ends on the inside of the mitten.

Eyes and Whiskers

Using black yarn and a tapestry needle, embroider the eyes and whiskers onto the mitten.

Fasten off and weave in ends on the inside of the mitten.
