Materials:
- Size I, 5.5 mm crochet hook
- Medium weight (size 4) yarn in gray, white and pink
- Tapestry needle
- Safety Eyes
Final measurement:
Measures 6.5″ wide x 4″ long x 1.5″ depth.
Abbreviations:
st(s)- stitch(es)
hk- hook
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
sc2tog- single crochet two together
sl st- slip stitch
BLO- back loop only
Body:
Chain 12
Round 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hk and next 9 chains. 5 hdc in end ch, hdc next 10 chains down the other side of the foundation ch, 5 hdc in last ch, sl st to join (30).
Round 2: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, 2 hdc in the next 5 sts, hdc 10, 2 hdc in last 5 sts, sl to join (40).
Round 3: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, [2hdc in next st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, hdc 10, [2hdc in next st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, sl st to join (50).
Round 4: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), sc in the BLO in each st around. (50).
***You will now work in the round, place stitch marker here if you need to***
Rounds 5-7: Sc in each st around, sl st to join (50).
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Ears (make 2):
Ch 5
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hk and each st across, turn (4).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog, twice, turn (2).
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next 2 sts, turn (2).
Row 4: Ch 1, sc2tog (1).
Ch 1, turn,
Continue to sc evenly around the ear with 2 sc in each corner.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Cut a piece of yarn and sew ears onto the top of the holder on either side with tapestry needle.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Mouth (with white yarn, make 2 circles):
Make a magic ring and ch 2
Hdc 10 in ring, pull to close, sl st to join.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Leave a tail on the second one and sew to the other circle with tapestry needle.
Nose:
With pink yarn and tapestry needle, sew on the nose from the middle of the joined circles in a triangle motion until the space is filled.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Eyes:
Attach safety eyes to the middle of your holder.
Tip: Lay glasses down first to pick the placement of the eyes.

I customized it for my black cat and added white circles under the black safety eyes for emphasis, a black mouth & safety nose. It was a bit limp so added a bottom piece to stabilize it.

So cute! I customized to make a black cat with white circles under the safety eyes and stitched white whiskers on a black mouthpiece, attached a plastic safety nose. Love it! Also made a white one like pattern.
