Materials:

• Size I, 5.5 mm crochet hook
• Medium weight (size 4) yarn in brown, orange, gray and black
• Tapestry needle
• Safety Eyes

Final measurement:

Measures 6.5″ wide x 4″ long x 1.5″ depth.

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)

hk- hook

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

sc2tog- single crochet two together

sl st- slip stitch

BLO- back loop only

Body:

Chain 12

Round 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hk and next 9 chains. 5 hdc in end ch, hdc next 10 chains down the other side of the foundation ch, 5 hdc in last ch, sl st to join (30).

Round 2: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, 2 hdc in the next 5 sts, hdc 10, 2 hdc in last 5 sts, sl to join (40).

Round 3: Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a st), hdc next 10 sts, [2hdc in next st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, hdc 10, [2hdc in next st, hdc in next st] x 5 times, sl st to join (50).

Round 4: Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), sc in the BLO in each st around. (50).

***You will now work in the round, place stitch marker here if you need to***

Rounds 5-7: Sc in each st around, sl st to join (50).

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Eyes (make 2):

With gray yarn make a magic circle and ch 1.

Round 1: 6 sc in circle, pull to close, sl st to join.

Round 2: Switch to brown yarn, ch 2, 2 hdc in each st around, sl st to join (12).

Round 3: Switch to orange yarn, ch 1, *2 sc in the BLO, sc in the BLO,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (18).

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Add safety eyes.

Cut long piece of orange yarn.

With tapestry needle, sew the eyes on.

Fasten off on the back of the holder and weave in ends.

Nose (with gray yarn):

With and tapestry needle sew on the nose in a triangle motion.

Fasten off on the back and weave in ends.

Hair (with gray yarn):

Cut 2 strands together approx. 5″ long.

Fold in half, insert hook on the top side of the holder and pull the middle through.

Yarn over and pull strands through, trim to 1″ or desired length.

Repeat on other side.
