Crochet Textured Bead Beanie

Materials:
- Size H, 5.00 mm crochet hook
- Medium worsted weight yarn (size 4) in 2 colors. I used an acrylic yarn in ivory and a contrasting color-Yarn Bee Dazzling in “Hint of Jasmine-gray beanie and Cyber Soul-ivory beanie”. I recommend a variegated yarn with slight color changes, but any color will look great!
- Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(es)
hk- hook
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
sk- skip
sl st- slip stitch
Sizing:
The final beanie measures approx. 7″ wide (at crown) and 7.5″ long.
Note:
Bead st around the ch 2 for every bead st row.
Bead stitch:
After you’ve made your sc, yo and insert hook around the post you made with the sc. You will be working sideways. Yo again and insert hook around the sc, yo again and insert hook around the sc, yo one more time and insert hook again around the sc. Yo and pull through all loops, 1 bead stitch made.
Horizontal Single Crochet (optional):
Between rows, insert your hook and pull up your yarn. Single crochet as you normally do but horizontally around each st in between the row.
Pattern:
Make a magic circle, ch 2.
Round 1: Ch 2, dc 10 in circle, sl st to join, pull to close (10).
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (20).
Round 3: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (30).
Round 4: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc next 2 sts,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (40).
Round 5: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc next 3 sts,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (50).
Round 6: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc next 4 sts,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (60).
Round 7: Ch 1, hdc in each st around, sl st to join (60).
Round 8: Switch to new color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 9: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 10: Switch to second color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 11: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 12: Switch to second color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 13: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 14: Switch to second color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 15: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 16: Switch to second color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 17: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 18: Switch to second color, ch 1, sk first st, *sc in the 3rd loop only, bead st, ch 1, sk next st,* repeat from * around, sl to join (60).
Round 19: Switch to main color, ch 1, 2 hdc in each sp around, sl st to join (60).
Round 20: Switch to second color, ch 1, sc in the 3rd loop only in each st around, sl st to join (60).
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Optional: Between rows 1-6, you will work a horizontal single crochet in every st in that round.
Fasten off after each row.
Weave in ends (weave in the first st end where you started into the end of the last st, finish by weaving in the ends on the inside of the hat).
