Cute Crochet Zebra Headband Easy Free Pattern
Create this adorable free crochet zebra pattern headband with this free pattern!
The free crochet pattern uses a size H, 5.00 mm hook size, worsted weight yarn (size 4) (black yarn and white yarn), and tapestry needle.
This free crochet headband pattern creates a charming zebra headband that is great for any skill level.
You can easily change color at the end of the row and work over the color not in use so there will be less ends to weave in later.

Crochet Zebra Headband Pattern

Materials:
- Size H, 5.00 mm hook
- Tapestry needle
- Medium worsted weight yarn (size 4) in black and white
Abbreviations:
st(s)- stitch(es)
ch- chain
hk- hook
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
BLO- back loop only
sc2tog- single crochet 2 together
sl st- slip stitch
Tip:
Carry the opposite color of yarn with you while working down each row and work over it.
This will make alternating colors easier and less ends to weave in.
Pattern for headband:
With black color, ch 13 (11 for 0-6m and 6-12 m sizes)
Row 1: Switch to white yarn, hdc in the 3rd ch from the hk and each st across, turn (11, 9).
Row 2: Switch to black yarn ch 2, hdc in the BLO in each st across, turn (11, 9).
Repeat row 2 until your headband measures the corresponding size, alternating the color every other row.![]()
Fold your headband in half and sl st in the BLO in each st in the other end of the headband in each st across.
Fasten off, weave in end.
Ears (make 4, 2 white, 2 black):
Baby sizes (0-6m and 6-12m):
Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hk and each st across, turn (8).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 2 sts. sc2tog, turn (4).
Row 3: Ch 1, sc across, turn (4).
Row 4: Ch 1, sc2tog, twice (2).
Row 5: Ch 1, sc across (2).
Row 6: Ch 1, sc2tog.
Make 3 more ears so there are 2 in white and 2 in black.
Continue with “edging” section.
All other sizes:
Ch 11
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hk and each st across, turn (10).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 6 sts. sc2tog, turn (8).
Row 3: Ch 1 sc across, turn (8).
Row 4 (other sizes): Ch 1, sc2tog, sc next 4 sts, sc2tog, turn (6).
Row 5: sc across (6).
Row 6: sc2tog, sc next 2 sts, sc2tog (4).
Row 7: sc across (4).
Row 8: sc2tog twice. Fasten off.
Make 3 more ears so there are 2 in pink and 2 in black.
Edging:
Sc (with black) the back loop of the white color (inside of ear) and the back loop of the black (back of ear) in each st around.
Sl st to join and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew ears on.
Attach to headband weaving in and out.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Hair:
Cut 8″ long black pieces of yarn.
With 2 strands together, fold in half and insert your hook in the middle row of a stitch and pull up the yarn.
Yarn over and pull through all strands.
Repeat down the two middle rows between the ears.
Trim to 2″ or desired length.
