Create this adorable crochet duck with this free pattern!
The duck makes a great toy and is so cute to gift, sell at craft shows or add to an Easter basket!
Adorable and easy to work up, you can whip up one of these ducks in just one afternoon!
The final duck measures approx. 7″ tall by 4″ wide.

Materials:
– Size G crochet hook, 4.25 mm
– Light weight acrylic yarn (size 3) in yellow and orange. You will need about 25 grams, around 55 yards for the main body. I used Mira handcrafts yarn.
– Stuffing
– Safety Eyes, 12 mm
– Tapestry Needle
Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(es)
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
hdc2tog- half double crochet two together
Head:
Make a magic circle, ch 1. Sc 6 into the circle and pull to close.
***Place a stitch marker here to keep track of rows, you will be working in the round***
Round 1: 2 hdc in each st around (12).
Round 2: Hdc in each st around (12).
Round 3: *2 hdc, hdc in next,* repeat from * around (18)
Rounds 4-5: Hdc in each st around (18).
***attach eyes between rows 4 and 5***
Round 6: Hdc in each st around (18).
Round 7: *Hdc2tog, hdc,* repeat from * around (12).
Round 8: Hdc in each st around (12).
***Fill with stuffing as you decrease***
Round 9: Hdc2tog around (6).
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Body:
Make a magic circle, ch 1. Sc 6 into the circle and pull to close.

Round 3: *2 hdc, hdc in next,* repeat from * around (18)
Round 4: Hdc in each st around (18).
Round 5: 2 hdc, hdc in next 2 sts,* repeat from * around (24).
Round 6-7: Hdc in each st around (24).
Round 8: *Hdc2tog, hdc next 2 sts,* repeat from * around (18).
Round 9: Hdc in each st around (18).
Round 10: *Hdc2tog, hdc,* repeat from * around (12).
Round 11: Hdc in each st around (12).
Round 12: Hdc2tog around (6).
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
With tapestry needle sew the body to the head.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Bill (with orange):
Ch 5
Row 1: Sc in second ch from the hk and each st across, turn (4).
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (4).
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Lay the bill in a diamond shape and fold across so the points come together.
With a tapestry needle and long piece of yarn, sew the bill through the middle of the mouth (begin at the top of round 5) to the head.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Legs (with orange, make 2):
Ch 10
Row 1: Sc in second ch from the hk and each st to end. Continue to ch 3, sl st in second ch from the hk and next st, sc in the middle of the foot, ch 3, sl st in second ch from the hk, sl st in next st, sc in the first st (corner), ch 3, sl st in second ch from th hk and next st.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
With tapestry needle and piece of yarn, sew the legs on either side of the body of the duck.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Wings (make 2):
Ch 8
Row 1: Hdc in second ch from the hk and each st to end, turn (7).
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc next 3 sts, hdc2tog, turn (5).
Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn (5).
Row 4: Ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc next st, hdc2tog, turn (3).
Row 5: Ch 2, hdc next 3 sts, turn (3).
Do not fasten off, continue to sc evenly around the wing with 2 sc in each corner. Sl St in first st and fasten off.
With tapestry needle and long piece of yarn sew the wing to either side of the duck.
Hair (with orange):
Cut a long piece of yarn and fold in half, fold in half again.
With your crochet hook, pull the middle of the yarn through the top of the head and yarn over and pull through. Trim to desired length.
