Crochet Sugarwheel Shawl

Create this gorgeous crochet sugarwheel shawl wrap with this easy pattern!

The shawl works up quickly and has beautiful edging detail!

Measures approx. 65″ across the top and 25″ from the middle to bottom point.

Crochet Sugarwheel Shawl:

Materials:

– Medium worsted weight yarn (4). I used Hobby Lobby’s Yarn Bee Sugarwheel (2 total) in “strawberry swish,”

355 yards per skein, 2 skeins needed

– Size H, 5.00 mm hk

 

– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

ch- chain

st(s)- stitch(es)

hk- hook

sc- single crochet

dc- double crochet

sp- space

sl st- slip stitch

Gauge:

11 dc X 6 rows = 4” square

Notes:

Ch 2 does not count as a stitch.

Pom stitch:

yarn over, go through stitch and pull up a lp, yarn over, go through same stitch again and pull up a lp, repeat 3 more times (5 total) then pull yarn through all loops on hook.

Pattern:

Ch 5

Row 1: 3 dc in 2nd ch from the hk, dc in next st, ch 2, dc in next st, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (8).

Row 2: 3 dc in first st, dc next 3 sts, dc in the ch 2 space you made in the last row, ch 2, dc in same space, dc next 3 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (14).

Row 3: 3 dc in first st, dc next 6 sts, dc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, dc next 6 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (20).

Row 4: 3 dc in first st, dc next 9 sts, dc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, dc next 9 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (26).

Row 5: 3 dc in first st, dc next 12 sts, dc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, dc next 12 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (32).

Row 6: 3 dc in first st, dc next 15 sts, dc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, dc next 15 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (38).

Row 7: 3 dc in first st, dc next 18 sts, dc in ch 2 sp, ch 2, dc in same sp, dc next 18 sts, 3 dc in last st, ch 2, turn (44).

Keep working rows with 3 dc in the first st and dc in each st in-between. When you get to the space dc in the space, ch 2, dc in the same space then keep working a dc in each st across with 3 dc in the last st. This will keep building the width of your shawl as you keep going. Keep working your rows until you have a total of 37 row.

Pom edging:

Row 38: Ch 1, sc in each st across until you reach the middle space. Sc in the space, ch 1, sc in the same space. Sc in each remaining st across.

Row 39: Ch 2, *Pom in next st, ch 1, sl st in same st, sc in next 2 sts, ch2,* repeat from * to end.

Continue to sc evenly along the straight side of the shawl with 2 sc in each corner. Sl st in end st and fasten off.

Weave in all ends.
