Crochet Camper Bus Pattern

Create this cute crochet Volkswagen bus with this easy to follow pattern!

The bus is worked up in 6 pieces and sewn together and stuffed. Fun to make in a variety of colors. Makes a great gift for any VW lover!

Measures 9″ wide by 6″ tall and 5″ in depth.

Materials:

  • F hook, 3.75 mm
  • Medium worsted weight yarn in teal, white, gray, black and yellow
  • Blunt needle/tapestry needle
  • Stuffing- polyfill

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)

ch- chain

hk- hook

sc- single crochet

hdc- half double crochet

dc- double crochet

Sides (Make 2):

With teal yarn ch 33

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from the hk and each ch to end, turn (31).

Rows 2-8: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn (31).

Row 9: Switch to white yarn and ch 2. Hdc in each st across, turn (31).

Row 10: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc in next 8 sts, switch to white yarn, hdc next 2 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc next 8 sts, switch to white yarn, hdc next 2 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc next 7 sts, switch to white yarn, hdc last 2 sts, turn (31).

Row 11: Ch 2, hdc in next 2 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc in next 7 sts, switch to white yarn, hdc next 12 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc next 8 sts, switch to white yarn, hdc last 2 sts, turn (31).

Row 12: Repeat row 10.

Row 13: Repeat row 11.

Row 14: Repeat row 10.

Row 15: Ch 2, hdc in each st across (31). Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

Front/Back (make 2):

With white yarn ch 17

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from the hk and each ch to end, turn (15).

Row 2: Switch to teal yarn and ch 2. Hdc in each st across, turn (15).

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in first st, switch to yellow yarn, hdc next 3 sts, switch back to teal yarn, hdc next 7 sts, switch back to yellow yarn and hdc next 3 sts, switch back to teal yarn and hdc in last st, turn (15).

Rows 4-8: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn (15).

Row 9: Switch to white yarn and ch 2. Hdc in each st across, turn (15).

Rows 10-13: Ch 2, hdc next 2 sts, switch to gray yarn, hdc next 11 sts, switch to white yarn and hdc last 2 sts, turn (15).

Row 14: Ch 2, hdc in each st across (15). Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

Roof and bottom (make 2, 1 white and 1 teal):

Ch 33

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from the hook and each ch to end, turn (31).

Rows 2-10: Ch 2, hdc in each st across (31). Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

You will now have the body of the van that looks like this:

Wheels (make 4):

With white yarn ch 3, sc 6 sts in first ch. Sl st in first st to close. Switch to black yarn and ch 2. 2 dc in the 3rd loop only in each st around. Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew on. Sew wheels on sides and weave in ends.

Front Details:

Pick one of the front/back pieces to make your front.

Windshield wipers:

Cut a long piece of black yarn and sew on the windshield wipers with your tapestry needle. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Headlights:

With white yarn ch 3. 5 sc in first ch, sl st in first st and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew on top front. Sew on. Weave in ends.

VW Symbol:

Cut a long piece of white yarn and with your tapestry needle sew on the logo. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Now the fun part!

Cut long pieces of yarn and whip stitch to sew all the parts together. Sew the sides to the bottom with the teal yarn, the front and back to the sides and bottom with the white yarn (top half of sides and along bottom) and teal yarn (bottom half of sides) and the top to the front/back and sides with the white yarn. Add stuffing as you go. Fasten off and weave in ends.
