The color block crochet mittens are so fun to make and feature the split single crochet stitch.
It’s a very pretty stitch that give the mittens a knit style look.
The mittens are made with medium worsted weight yarn and size I crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(es)
hk- hook
sc- single crochet
BLO- back loops only
splsc2tog- split single crochet 2 together
mc- main color
Special Stitches:
splsc- split single crochet- Instead of doing a sc as normal you will work in the middle of the V part from the previous row and sc, also known as a split single crochet (splsc). This creates a knit style look.
Gauge:
12 sts = 4″ (I hook)
Notes:
- When switching colors, carry along the color strand not in use and crochet over it.
- It helps to keep one color to the back and one color to the front when changing colors so you do not get them tangled.

With your first color, Ch 10
Row 1: Sc in BLO in 2nd ch from hk and in each st to end, ch 1 (9).
