Crochet Baby Loafers

Create these very cute crochet baby loafers!

So adorable and easy to make, you will want to make a pair in ever color! Such cute detail!

This pattern uses medium worsted weight (4) cotton yarn (I used Lily Sugar N’ Cream) and size F crochet hook.

How to make your booties not slip:

I get this question a lot and have a couple solutions I think work really well:

  1. Puff paint. Squirt little dots or lines of puff paint on the bottoms. Turn them upside down and let them dry overnight before use.

 2. Clear plasti dip spray. This is my preferred method as it works really well and just sprays on. Be sure to do this outdoors. Spray the bottoms and let dry overnight before use.

Body:

Row 5: Ch 2, hdc clockwise in the BLO in each st around (34, 36, 37, 39). Fasten off and weave in end.

Tongue:

Count (13, 15, 16, 17) sts over to the right from where you fastened off and pick up a st and ch 1. Sc next 5 (4 sts for the 6-9m size) sts, turn.

Row 1: Ch 1, sc next 6 (5 sts for the 6-9m size) sts (including the ch 1 from previous row), turn.

Row 2-8: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Line up the tongue and sc evenly through the tongue and sts on the side, front and the other side. Continue to sc in each st around the rest of the shoe and sl st in the first st at the corner of the tongue where you started. Fasten off and weave in end.

Top detail:

Cut a long piece of contrasting color yarn and weave in and out with blunt needle around the shoe. I recommend starting in the corner tongue of the shoe so you can weave in your ends in the shoe under the tongue (so it’s not noticeable).

Tassel:

Wrap your contrasting color yarn 5 times around your index and middle finger and cut off. Cut another medium sized (about 10 inches or so) piece of yarn and tie through the loop and knot to secure on of the sides. Now tie around both sides and knot two more times. Cut through the loops on the sides and trim to make even. Sew onto the front of the shoe and fasten off.
