Veggie Tale Crochet Finger Puppets

Create these cute Veggie Tale crochet finger puppets!

I was thinking of what I could crochet for my son that he would enjoy playing with and started making these finger puppet characters from one of his favorite shows, Veggie Tales!

With some yarn, felt, glue and crochet hook you too can create these cute little finger puppets!

The free patterns for all the finger puppets are listed below.

Abbreviations:

sc= single crochet

sc2tog= single crochet 2 together

sl st= slip stitch

sts= stitches

Materials:

– Size G hook, 4.25 mm

– Google eyes

– Hot glue gun or strong glue

– Blunt needle

– Small amount of black, pink and white felt

– Medium worsted weight yarn in the following colors:

  • red
  • yellow
  • green
  • orange
  • blue

Special Stitches:

Bobble: Ch 3, sl stitch in same stitch

Cucumber and carrot:

Ch 4, sl st to join. You will continue to work in the round, use a stitch marker if needed.

Row 1: *Sc in same joining stitch, 2 sc in next 3 sts.

Row 2: *2 sc in first, sc in next* repeat from * around.

Rows 3-11: Sc around, sl st into first st of last row and fasten off. Weave in end.

Carrot hair (1 on each side): Cut a strand of yellow yarn 16″ long, fold in half and fold in half again. Find the middle and pull up a loop at the top of the blueberry head. Pull all strands through. Trim to preferred length. Cute 3 strands of 4″ pieces. Fold each one individually in half and pull up a loop on the front of the head and pull both strands trough (bangs).

Tomato and Blueberry:

Ch 4, sl st to join. You will continue to work in the round, use a stitch marker if needed.

Row 1: *Sc in same joining stitch, 2 sc in next 3 sts.

Row 2: *2 sc in next, sc in next,* repeat from * around.

Row 3: *2 sc in next, sc next 2 sts,* repeat from * around.

Row 4-5: Sc around

Row 6: *Sc2tog, sc next 2 sts,* repeat from * around.

Row 7: *Sc2tog, sc next st,* repeat from * around.

Row 8-11: Sc around, sl st into first st of last row and fasten off. Weave in end.

Tomato hair: Cut 2 pieces of green yarn about 3 inches. Putting both strands side by side, find the middle and draw up a loop in the middle of the tomato head. Pull all the yarn threads trough and cut about 1/2 an inch from the head.

Blueberry hair (2 on each side of head): Cut a strand of yellow yarn 16″ long, fold in half and fold in half again. Find the middle and pull up a loop at the top of the head. Pull all strands through. Trim to preferred length.

Asparagus:

Ch 4, sl st to join. You will continue to work in the round, use a stitch marker if needed.

Row 1: *Sc in same joining stitch, 2 sc in next 3 sts.

Row 2: *2 sc in next, sc in next,* repeat from * around.

Row 3: *Sc, bobble (see above “special stitch”),* repeat from * around.

Row 4: Sc around (in between bobbles).

Row 5: *Sc, bobble,* repeat from * around.

Row 6: Sc around.

Rows 7-11: Sc around. Sl st in first st of last row and fasten off. Weave in end.

All noses:

Ch 3, join with a sl st.

Row 1: Sc in same joining stitch, 2 sc in next 2 sts. Sl st into first st and fasten off. Attach to face.

Mouths and eyes:

Cut felt mouth shapes as pictured and glue onto face. I use E6000 glue. You can use hot glue too just be careful!
