If you love crochet projects that combine texture, color, and a little sparkle, this floral granny square bag is such a fun one to make.
The bag is worked in classic granny square rounds and then finished with dimensional puff flowers and small crochet circles that create a beautiful layered floral design on the front.
To give the bag an extra special touch, I added sparkling rhinestone embellishments to the flower centers and small circles.
The rhinestones add just the right amount of shimmer and really make the flowers stand out against the soft cotton yarn.
I used a Bedazzler tool to apply the rhinestones, and if you don’t already have one, I highly recommend it for finishing cotton crochet projects.
The heat-activated rhinestones adhere really well to cotton yarn and the tool is incredibly easy to use.
It’s a simple way to add a little glam to crochet accessories like bags, hats, or even home decor.
This free crochet bag pattern is beginner-friendly and uses simple stitches like double crochet, half double crochet, and single crochet to create a classic granny square base.
If you’ve ever made a granny square blanket or coaster, you’ll feel right at home with this pattern.
The dimensional puff flowers and small crochet circles are sewn onto the front square to create a beautiful floral design that adds texture and visual interest to the finished bag.
Granny square bags are a timeless crochet project, and this crochet flower bag gives the traditional style a fresh, modern look.
The layered flowers and rhinestone accents create a soft garden-inspired design that feels perfect for spring and summer.
Because the bag is made with sturdy cotton yarn and includes instructions for adding a fabric lining, it’s both decorative and durable.
This granny square purse pattern includes instructions for two sizes.
The child size measures approximately 6 x 6 inches, while the adult size measures about 7 x 7 inches, making it a great small crossbody bag for everyday use.
The size can also be easily adjusted by adding additional granny square rounds if you’d like to make the bag larger.

Happy crocheting!

Adult + Child Sizes
This bag is worked in solid granny squares, embellished with puff flowers and small circles, then assembled. All appliqués and optional rhinestones are added to the front square before joining the bag together.
Important Yarn Note for Rhinestones
If you are using the Bedazzler Kit with Rhinestones, you must use 100% cotton yarn for the bag and appliqués.
The Bedazzler tool uses heat to seal the rhinestones.
• Cotton yarn is safe and secure with this method.
• Acrylic yarn will melt under the heat.
Do not use acrylic if you plan to apply rhinestones.
If you are skipping the rhinestones, you may use either cotton or acrylic. However, cotton is recommended for structure and durability.
