If you’re looking for an easy crochet tote bag that’s cute, functional, and perfect for warmer weather, you’re going to love this one.
This free crochet tote bag pattern is worked using basic stitches, making it a great option for confident beginners while still being a fun, satisfying make for more experienced crocheters.
Whether you’re new to crochet bags or you already have a collection of crocheted bags, this design is a quick project you’ll actually want to use all summer long.
This free pattern uses worsted weight yarn (also known as medium weight yarn) and a mm crochet hook (check the pattern for exact hook size and yarn weight details).
It’s a fantastic scrap yarn project and looks especially charming when worked in bright colors.
You can use cotton yarns such as Lily Sugar-style cotton, which makes this a durable and stylish beach bag or everyday shoulder bag.
The textured stitch pattern is created with single crochet stitches and a simple rep row, giving the bag structure without being stiff.
You’ll work each row by inserting your hook into the next stitch, paying attention to the first st, last st, and last ch to keep your edges clean.
The construction is straightforward and uses only basic stitches, making this one of the best way projects to practice consistency and tension.
You’ll also need a tapestry needle (or yarn needle) for seaming and finishing.
This perfect bag works up quickly and is ideal for summer essentials, whether you’re heading to the farmers market, the beach, or just running errands.
The skill level is beginner-friendly, and the pattern includes clear instructions for where to insert hook and how to maintain an even stitch count.
As always, this pattern is available as a free crochet pattern here on the blog, with an optional printable PDF if you prefer an ad-free version.
