If you’re looking for an easy crochet hat with a knit-like look, this chunky crochet beanie pattern is a great project to add to your list of free patterns.
Designed using bulky weight yarn (or super chunky yarn) and a large N, 10 mm crochet hook, this warm crochet hat works up quickly and has a beautifully textured faux knit stitch pattern.
This crochet hat pattern is worked flat, starting with a simple foundation chain and basic stitches, making it a good idea for a confident crochet beginner or anyone wanting a relaxing project.
The first row sets up the stitch pattern, and the number of stitches and stitch count stay consistent throughout the number of rows, making it easy to keep track of your progress.
Clear instructions guide you from the first stitch all the way to the last stitch and last row.
To finish, the top of the hat is cinched closed using a yarn needle, creating a clean, cozy finished hat.
With minimal shaping and an adult size hat fit, this is one of those free crochet beanie patterns you’ll want to make more than once.
Whether you’re shopping bulky yarn from Hobby Lobby (where I purchased this yarn) or using yarn already in your stash, this chunky crochet hat is much fun to make and results in a polished finished product.
With an approachable skill level, simple hook size, and classic faux knit texture, this chunky crochet beanie pattern is perfect for building crochet skills while creating cozy hats you’ll love!
A gorgeous unisex pattern that works up fast!
Happy crocheting!
