Owl Eyes
Round 1: Magic circle, ch 2. Work 10 hdc for baby/toddler size, 12 hdc for child/adult size in the circle. Sl st to join. (10–12 hdc).
Round 2: Join next color, ch 1. Sc in same st, ch 1, sc in next st around. Sl st to join. (10–12 sc, 10–12 ch-1 sps).
Round 3: Join next color, ch 1. Sc in each ch-1 sp, ch 1 around. Sl st to join. (10–12 sc, 10–12. ch-1 sps)
Round 4: Join next color, ch 1. Sc in the BLO of each st around. Sl st to join. (10–12 sc).
Leave a long tail on Round 4 and, using a tapestry needle, sew the eyes onto the hat a couple of rounds up from the bottom. Fasten off on the inside and weave in ends.
Beak
Cut a long piece of yarn. Using a tapestry needle, sew the beak onto the hat in a small triangle shape. Fasten off on the inside and weave in ends.
Hair
Cut 2 pieces of yarn, approximately 10″ each.
- Fold each piece in half and pull the middle through the desired stitch.
- Yarn over the tails and pull both strands through the loop to secure.
Trim to ¾”–1” or your desired length.
