Spooky Boo Crochet Halloween Ghost Scarf Free Pattern

Crochet Halloween Boo Ghost Scarf

Materials:

-Size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
-Size G (4.5 mm) crochet hook (for letters and ghost)
-Medium weight (size 4) yarn in 4 colors – black, green, orange, and white (see chart for recommended yardage)
-Tapestry needle

Abbreviations (US terms):

st(s) – stitch(es)
ch – chain
hk – hook
sp – space
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sl st – slip stitch

Gauge:

17 sts (sc + ch-1 spaces) x 19 rows = 4″

Note:

• To add more width to the scarf, simply work additional rows of white before continuing the color pattern. (Current width measures approx. 4 3/4″.)

• Fasten off the color at the end of each row, except for the white rows. There’s no need to carry unused yarn, which helps keep the color pattern clean and crisp.

• This design has no ends to weave in. Simply add more fringe and trim to your desired length.

• The pattern is easily customizable to any size. Follow the chart recommendations and gauge. Your starting chain should always be an odd number.

Pattern:

Chain for corresponding size:

Row 1 (Black):
Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, *sk next st, sc in next st,* repeat from * to * across. Fasten off, leaving a 5″ tail.

Row 2 (Orange):
Join color 2, ch 1, sc in first ch-1 sp, *ch 1, sc in next ch-1 sp,* repeat from * to * across. Fasten off, leaving a 5″ tail.

Rows 3–6:
Repeat Row 2, using:

• Row 3 – Green

• Row 4 – Black

• Row 5 – Orange

• Row 6 – Green

Rows 7–12 (White):
Repeat Row 2 using white yarn.

Rows 13–18:
Repeat Row 2, using:

• Row 13 – Green

• Row 14 – Orange

• Row 15 – Black

• Row 16 – Green

• Row 17 – Orange

• Row 18 – Black

Fasten off.

Fringe:

Cut 10″ strands of each color. Attach each strand to the matching color on the scarf:

1. Fold the yarn in half.

2. Pull the middle through the end of the scarf.

3. Yarn over and pull through all strands.
   Trim tails to 3–4″ or desired length.

BOO Letters (Size G, 4.5 mm hook, black yarn):

B (measures approx. 3” tall x 1.75” wide)

1. Ch 10 (10 sts).

2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (9 sc).

3. Ch 7, sl st in 5th st of previous row, ch 7, sl st in last st.

4. Turn, ch 2, hdc 4 sts in first chain space, sc 2 sts in same space, sl st in middle st, hdc 4 sts in next chain space, sc 2 sts in same space (4 hdc + 2 sc per chain space).

5. Sl st in last st.

6. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

O (make 2, measures approx. 2” x 2”)

1. Ch 12, sl st in first to join, ch 1 (12 sts).

2. Work 2 sc in each ch around, sl st to join (24 sts).

3. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

Sew letters onto scarf.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Ghost Appliqué Pattern (size G 4.5 mm hook, white yarn-make 2)

Pattern:

Ch 6.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across. (5 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn. (7 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (7 sc)

Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 5–9: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (9 sc each row)

Row 10 (Shaping): Ch 1, sc in first st, 3 dc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, sc in last st. (15 sts total)

Edging:

Sc evenly around the ghost until you reach the bottom left corner. Sl st to join. Fasten off.

Finishing:

With black yarn and tapestry needle, sew on eyes and mouth. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Sew onto scarf with a tapestry needle and white yarn.

Fasten off, weave in ends.
