Crochet Flower Ribbed Headband

Materials:
Size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook
Medium (worsted) weight yarn (size 4) in main and contrasting colors (2 colors)
Headband – approx. 60–80 yds (depending on size)
Large flower – approx. 12–15 yds
Small flower – approx. 6–8 yds
Tapestry needle
- Optional: faux leather tag
Optional: small button for flower center (not recommended for babies/small children)
Abbreviations:
st(s) – stitch(es)
ch – chain
hk – hook
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet
BLO – back loop only
sl st – slip stitch
Headband
Foundation Chain:
Baby size – ch 11
Toddler/Child/Adult – ch 13
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hk and in each ch across, turn. (10, 12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in BLO of each st across, turn. (10, 12 sts)
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures:
- Baby- 14″
Toddler – 15″
Child – 17″
Adult – 19″
Join: Fold band in half. Sl st through both loops of starting edge and BLO of last row across to form a seam.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Finishing Edging (optional):
With contrasting color, join yarn at the seam. Sc evenly around bottom edge of headband, sl st to first sc to join. Fasten off. Repeat for top edge. Weave in ends.

Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch 2 (does not count as a st). Dc 20 in circle, sl st to first dc to join. Pull tail to close. (20 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 3 tr in same st (4 tr total in st), ch 1, sl st in next st, repeat from * to * around. (10 petals) Sl st to join.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Small Flower (main color)
Round 1: Make a magic circle, ch 2 (does not count as a st). Dc 10 in circle, sl st to first dc to join. Pull tail to close. (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 tr), 3 tr in same st (4 tr total in st), ch 1, sl st in next st, skip next st, repeat from * to * around (5 petals). Sl st to join.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Optional: Sew a small button in the center (not recommended for babies/small children).
Assembly
Lay small flower on top of large flower.
Using the tail from the small flower and a tapestry needle, sew around Round 1 of the small flower, attaching it securely to the large flower.
Sew flower to headband at desired placement.
Weave in all ends.
