Materials:

– Size H, 5.00 mm crochet hook

– Medium weight (size 4) acrylic yarn in ivory, red and green (see yarn estimates below)

– Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)

ch- chain

hk- hook

sc- single crochet

dc- double crochet

sl st- slip stitch

Gauge:

13–14 dc x 7–8 rows = 4″ x 4″

Sizing:

Puff Stitch:

Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, and pull up a loop.
Repeat [yarn over, insert your hook into the same stitch, and pull up a loop] three more times (you’ll have 9 loops on your hook).
Yarn over and pull through all 9 loops on the hook.
One puff stitch made.

Tips:

• When working with two colors, crochet over the unused yarn to carry it along and keep the back tidy.

• On color changes, pull through the final two loops of the double crochet with the new color for a smooth, seamless transition.

• To adjust height, repeat the body rounds before the final sc round — this helps if you prefer a slouchier or snugger fit.
