Create this cute easy free crochet cup cozy with this free cozy pattern! This free crochet pattern so fast and great to make in a variety of colors!
This is a great basic pattern with a cute edging.
They take only 25 minutes to make and are easy to dress up with a cute feltie (a great way to do a particular theme/Holiday)! Crochet cup cozies are great for craft shows and make a great gift!
Fits a 16 oz. portable coffee cup perfectly! A perfect gift for a friend and family members. This is a quick project to make a last-minute gift and fun to make in different colors! Perfect for a cup of tea, cold drinks, hot drinks, cup of coffee, etc.
The pattern uses an I, 5.5 mm hook size and medium worsted weight yarn (you can also use cotton yarn too). The final cozy measures approx. 4.5″ wide and 5″ tall.

- I hook, 5.5 mm
- Medium worsted weight yarn (size 4), I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn
- Tapestry needle
- 16 oz. portable coffee cup:
dc- double crochet
sl st- slip stitch
Crab stitch, aka the reverse single crochet stitch. Instead of working a single crochet clockwise, you work a single crochet counter clockwise, creating a textured finish. You work in each st as normal, just reverse!
Ch 24, sl st to join.
Round 1: Ch 2, dc in each ch around, sl st to join (24).
Rounds 2-7: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (24).
Optional: If you would like your cozy to not cover the whole cup, you can work until round 6 then finish off with row 8 and reverse single crochet (crab stitch) on the bottom.
Round 8: Ch 1, reverse single crochet (crab stitch) in each st around (24). Sl st in first st and fasten off.
Pick up a st along the bottom of the cozy and ch 1, reverse single crochet (crab stitch) in each foundation ch around. Sl st in first st and fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Add a cute feltie or iron on! I have tried both. For the iron on I place a cloth on top of the iron on and press with my iron on cotton setting for approx. 30 seconds. For felties I just use some hot glue and press onto the cozy.
Pin it for later!
