Crochet Rainbow Wall Hanging

Create this quick and cute crochet rainbow wall hanging!

The body is worked in a circle, folded in half then joined together. The fringe and hanging are then added to make this a quick project you can complete in one afternoon.

The final wall hanging measures approx. 6″ wide, 4.5″ tall (without fringe), 7.5″ tall (with fringe) and hangs down about 2.5″.

Super cute to add a fun touch to any room!

Materials:

– F hook, 3.75 mm

– Tapestry needle

– Medium worsted weight yarn (4), I used Lion Brand Ice Cream in “Rainbow” (47% cotton, 53% acrylic), about 1 oz needed. Any variegated yarn would work well, I do like this particular yarn as the color changes happen really nice and natural. You could also use solid colors and alternate them on each row.

Abbreviations:

ch- chain

st(s)- stitch(es)

sc- single crochet

dc- double crochet

sl st- slip stitch

Pattern:

Ch 20, sl st in first st to join.

Row 1: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to join (40).

Row 2: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (60).

Row 3: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next 2 sts,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (80).

Row 4: Ch 2, *2dc, dc in next 3 sts,* repeat from * around, sl st to join (100).

Do not fasten off. Fold yarn in half where your hook is at the bottom corner. Holding both sides together, sc through both loops in each st along the top to join the two sides together. Fasten off and weave in end.

Inner joining of rainbow:

Pick up a st on the inner part of the rainbow (try to use the same color as first round) and sl st through both sts across. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Hanging:

Count 15 sts in on the right side and pick up a st on the 16th st, ch 30, sl st into the 16th st up from the other side of the rainbow. Fasten off, weave in all ends.

Fringe:

Cut 12″ strands of yarn and fold in half. Pull the middle point through both sts along the bottom of each side of the rainbow. Yarn over and pull through strands. Repeat across both sides in an even fashion. Alternate colors if you wish. Trim to 3.5″ or desired length.

Pin it for later!
