Create this gorgeous crochet braided headband! The series of puff stitches create a beautiful braided effect that is so pretty and works up fast.
You will want to make one in every color, it has been my go to headband whenever it’s chilly!
Measures approx 4.5″ wide. Written in toddler, child, teen and adult sizes.

Materials:
– I hook, 5.5 mm
– Medium worsted weight yarn, I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. I would also recommend a soft acrylic such as Red Heart Soft:
– Blunt/Tapestry needle
– 1.5″ button
Abbreviations:
st(s)- stitch(es)
ch- chain
hk- hook
sc- single crochet
sk- skip
sc2tog- single crochet two together
sl st- slip stitch
Special Stitches
Puff Stitch:
Yarn over and insert hk into st, pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hk in the same st, pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hk in the same st once more and pull up a lp. Now yarn over and pull through all loops on the hk. 1 puff made.
Pattern:
Ch 6
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from the hk and each ch to end (5).
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st (7).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (7).
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 5 sts, 2 sc in last st (9).
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (9).
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first st, sc next 7 sts, 2 sc in last st (11).
Row 7: Ch 2, turn, puff in first st, ch 1, puff in same st, sk next st, dc next 2 sts, *sk next st, puff in next st, ch 1, puff in same st, repeat from * to end (8).
Row 8: Ch 2, *puff in-between the two puffs from the previous row, ch 1, puff in same space, ch 1, dc next 2 sts, puff in-between the puffs from previous row, ch 1, puff in same space, dc next 2 sts, puff in between the last 2 puffs from previous row, ch 1, puff in same space (8).
Repeat row 8 until your piece measures the corresponding size:
Toddler: 15 inches (total length 17″)
Child: 16 inches (total length 18″)
Teen: 17 inches (total length 19″)
Adult: 18 inches (total length 20″)
Decreasing:
Row 1: Ch 1, turn, sc 11 sts evenly across (11).
Row 2. Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 7 sts, sc2tog (9).
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (9).
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 5 sts, sc2tog (7).
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (7).
Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc next 3 sts, sc2tog (5).
Row 7: Sc 5, sl st in end st (button hole), ch 1, turn, 5 sc in ch 5 space, sc in last st and fasten off. Weave in ends.
Sew on button and fasten off.
