Whip up these super cute 50 min crochet baby booties with this free crochet pattern!

These cute baby booties worked in the round so there is no awkward wandering seam running up the back. These simple booties make a great gift for baby girl and baby boy little feet.

These easy baby booties use basic crochet stitches and is a great pattern for baby’s feet!

Fun to make in your favorite colors! Makes an adorable baby shower gift!

Simple and sweet, these classic baby booties make an adorable gift for a newborn baby. The cute little booties measure approx. 3 3/4″ in length and 3″ in height.

Happy crocheting!

How to make your booties not slip:

I get this question a lot and have a couple solutions I think work really well:

  1. Puff paint. Squirt little dots or lines of puff paint on the bottoms. Turn them upside down and let them dry overnight before use.

 2. Clear plasti dip spray. This is my preferred method as it works really well and just sprays on.

Be sure to do this outdoors. Spray the bottoms and let dry overnight before use.

Thank you so much this is a wonderful quick project. I’m fairly new at crochet and this was easy to understand and worked out great.

I’m finding it very hard to follow along. Do the slip stitches and ch2 count as stitches? Not sure where the 9sc comes from in step 2 and I am lost after that! They look so cute, I was so excited to make them!

Sorry for the confusion. I just worked it up again and updated the pattern. I also included the ending row number to make it easier to understand. It should read better now 🙂

I’m going to try these patterns tomorrow. You say medium worsted weight yarn, can you give me some idea what size yarn that is please. Is it DK yarn or bigger especially for the hat as J hook seems very big.

    Thank you

Yes, a size 4 weight, a little heavier/thicker than DK yarn. The size J hook works up quickly. If you would like to use a smaller hook you can use a size H hook and start the hat by dc 10 into the magic circle instead of 8 and following the pattern. Hope this helps.

Hello. I was hoping you could tell me about the chain 2 then sc in round 2. I’m fairly new to crochet so I’m confused that a sc follows a chain 2 instruction. I would like to make sure I’m reading it right. Thanks 😊👍

Hi! Rows 1-4 are for the sole of the bootie and use the ch2. After row 4 you work in the round for the rest of the bootie. Hope this helps!

Hi I am new to trying booties this was a pretty easy pattern to follow. Thank you for that. However if I wanted to make the booties bigger say for a 3-6 month old would I use a bigger hook and can you give me guidance on how to do that. Thank you for your time

Hi! If you go up a hook size they will turn out a little larger. I think going up 1 hook size and following the pattern as usual will give you the fit for a 3-6m size.

I would love to make these booties – and also the hat. Do you have a pattern in UK sts??

I’m sorry, I do not have the pattern written in UK terms. That is something I will consider doing in the future.

Yes you can, you may need to go up a hook size as it’s thinner than medium worsted weight yarn. Less than a skein, about 1-1.5 oz. It doesn’t take much yarn to make them 🙂

    Hi Laura,
The first instruction is to chain 10, however, the next line of instruction would require 11 or have I got that wrong?

Hi, I have the same question as asked above. Row 1, chain ten , sc in second, sc in next 8, then sc 5 in last?

Sorry, I just fixed the typo…it’s ch 10, sc in second, sc next 7 sts, then 5 sc in the end st. Should make sense now! Thanks!

I’m sorry, but I still don’t get the first row….I’ve pulled it and started over numerous times and I still have two chains left after the 7 sc. Then 5 sc in last stitch? Do you skip a chain?

Hi, you sc in the second ch from the hook and the next 7 sts for a total of 8 sts, then sc 5 into the next st (last st at the end) then you work your way back down the other side of the chains (sc the next 8 sts). Hope this helps!

I just can’t get it. I follow the instructions exactly but keep on having extra stitches even though I’m counting them after every row I finish. Very frustrated.
