Crochet toy hammock free pattern

Create this cute crochet toy hammock with this free crochet pattern! This hammock features basic crochet stitches and is a great way to organize your child’s toys.

Need more storage for your child’s stuffed animals? Make this super easy crochet toy storage net hammock.

This simple design works up very fast (you can make this is one afternoon) and simply hangs onto some plastic wall hooks in the corner of the room.

A great storage idea for plush toys and kid’s accessories.

This is an easy project, awesome toy organizer and great for leftover yarn.

Don’t worry, it will not fall down or fall off the hooks. I have had my son’s hammock up in the corner of a wall for over a month and it is nice and strong!

Materials:

  • Lily Sugar n’ Cream 100% cotton yarn.
  • J hook, 6.00 mm
  • Blunt needle
  • plastic wall hooks

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)

ch- chain

dc- double crochet

sp- space

sl st- slip stitch

Pattern:

Row 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to make a circle, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in circle, ch 1, dc in same circle, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in first sp, ch 1, dc in same sp, ch 1, repeat in next sp, turn.

Row 4: Ch 3, dc in first sp, ch 1, dc in same sp, ch 1, dc in second sp, ch 1, repeat to end, turn.

**Continue with this sequence so the first and last space of each row has 2 dc and each space between them has 1 dc.

The 2 dc at each end will help grow the triangle. Continue with the pattern until you reach the desired length you like. Sl st in last stitch and fasten off. Weave in end.

Put the hooks on your wall (3 total) in any corner and hang the ends over the hooks. You’re done!

Pin it for later!

It doesn’t seem like the two extra doubles at the beg and end of each row is enough “growth”. I crocheted this to about a 1.5 ft in height and it looked like the sides of the triangle were too far from the wall, even with stretching. So I ripped it all out to about the 23rd row. Any thoughts?

Can you please tell me the measurements of your hammock?
    Thank you!

My finished hammock measures approx. 45″ from end to end on the longest side. 31″ inches on the other 2 sides and 22″ from the middle of the longest side to the front point. You can easily change the size to whatever measurement you need.

Roughly how much yarn did you use to make your sample? I’ve got some leftover cotton yarn but I’d rather not run out in the middle!

Does the ch3 at the beginning of each row count as a dc + ch1? i.e. should the two dcs at the end of a row go into that “ch1”? Or should they go into the last actual ch1 between the actual dcs?

I have a question. When it says to repeat to the end do you repeat the chain one and also chain 3 to begin a new row. That would make 4 chains every time you repeat .
