The braided twist crochet headband features a gorgeous braided edge and cute front twist detail! The headband uses a series of puff stitches and double crochets to create the beautiful detail. A simple twist is then added in the front when you sew the ends together.
Measures approx. 5″ in width.

Materials:
I hook- 5.5 mm
Medium worsted weight yarn- I used Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek in “Mustard”, 5 oz. Lion’s Brand Vanna’s choice is a similar yarn that works up really nicely too.
Blunt needle
Notes: Turn after each row.
Special Stitch:
Puff Stitch: Yarn over, insert hk in st and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert hook again pulling up another loop, yarn over and insert hk one more time and pull up a loop. Now yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
Abbreviations:
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(es)
hk- hook
sk- skip
dc- double crochet
Pattern:
ch 15
Row 1: Puff in third ch from the hk, ch 2, puff in the same st, sk next st, dc the next 9 sts, sk next st, puff in last st, ch 2, puff in same st (13).
Row 2: Ch 3, puff in between the puffs from the previous row (in the V space), ch 2, puff in same space, sk next st, dc the next 9 sts, puff in between the puffs from the previous row (in V space), ch 2, puff in same st (13).
Repeat row 2 until piece measures corresponding size:
newborn: 12″
0-3 M: 13″
3-6M: 13-15″
6-12M: 15-16″
1-3 yrs: 15-17″
4-12 yrs: 17-18.5″
Teen: 18.5-20″
Small adult: 19-20″
Medium adult: 20-21″
Large adult: 21-22″
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Construction:
With the right side facing up, fold each end in half horizontally. Put those halves together by putting one side of the fold inside the other. See picture below:
Cut a long piece of yarn and with your blunt needle weave in and out through all ends together. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Turn your piece inside out and you’re done!
