Cut a long strand of yarn and sew down the back of the hat with blunt needle, about 1.5″ apart.

Side Braids:

Holding all 3 colors together (green, white, black), cut 6, 40″ strands of yarn (of each color).

Fold in half, insert hook in the center of the base of the earflap and grab the center of the yarn strands with your hook.

Yarn over and pull all strands through the loop.

You may need to use a larger hook to get all the yarn strands though the base of the earflap, then I just pull the yarn through with my hand.

Divide yarn into 3 sections by color and braid down. At the base you will knot and pull tightly to secure.

Trim ends. Repeat on other side.

On the child size hat, row 4 says it should end in 32 st, but I keep getting 36. Which throws all the other routes off by 9. I’m not sure if this is a typo or if I’m doing something wrong ☹

On the child’s hat pattern row 8 is missing, an I supposed to increase again before doing the rows 9-14 or is it supposed to be 8-14?

I’m making the hat for my nephew who loves dinosaurs. I don’t understand the instructions for the nose. What does the 22 mean after the hdc 12? And what do you mean by 22 sts? Thanks.

Hi, hdc 22 is for the child/adult size nose, hdc 12 is for the baby/toddler size nose. It just means to hdc 22 sts down the foundation chain, 5 sc in the last st, then hdc 22 sts down the other side of the foundation chain and 5 sc in the last st before joining.
