Fold the base of the ear down about an inch and sew it secure to stay in place. This will give the ear that fold over look.
Once you’ve made two, sew on your ears to the sides of your hat with a blunt needle starting at the top of the third rows and sewing down to the bottom of the fifth row. Fasten off and weave in your ends.

White part:
Cut a long piece of white yarn, fold in half and sew on the white part in a V shape that is slanted to the left (see photo). Fasten off and weave in ends on back of eye.
Sew both eyes onto hat with your blunt needle. Make sure to have your ch 2 parts of the eye facing horizontal and not vertical.
With green yarn ch 10 and fasten off leaving a long tail to sew on (make 4) under the eye and above the eye. Go in and out of each st with your blunt needle to secure on. Connect the edges of the eyes when sewing on. Fasten off on the inside of the hat and weave in ends.

I love this hat, so cute. I had a question about the ears. I was following the pattern and the stitch counts at the end didn’t match up. Not sure if something was missing or there’s a typo. Also at 14 rows, the ears are too small for the child size hat. Would I just continue adding rows till it’s a size I like?
Hi Amanda, I will look into the sitch count and make any changes. If you would like the ears longer keep increasing until you reach your desired width then sc each row for added length. Hope this helps!
About how much yarn would be used for a child sized hat? I’ve been asked to make this for a Halloween costume and want to make sure I order enough of the green yarn. Thank you.
Hi, not that much…I would estimate about 200 yards. Happy Halloween!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this Hat! THANK YOU! Do you have a ‘Coat’ pattern to go with this or would consider making one? That would be awesome Thank you for your patterns I’ve made a few so far. LOVE your Work!
Conni
Thank you! I do not have a coat pattern, that may be something I might do in the future as I have a lot of other patterns going on right now but I will think about it!
