What’s more festive and fun for the holidays than a crochet gingerbread house to play with?!
Such a cute addition to your holiday decor and also a 2 in 1 play set, complete with accessories and little gingerbread people! So cute! I made this for my son last Christmas and he loved it! It was so much fun to make but definitely takes some time.
Please allow yourself 3-4 weeks of working on and off to complete the house. Though it takes some time, it is definitely worth it! It will be a cherished piece for years to come!
For this project you will need a size G and H hook, cardboard (sizes given in pattern), hot glue gun, medium worsted weight yarn and google eyes/accessories for gingerbread people.
The pattern is written in 2 parts. 1 for the house and 2 for the accessories. The playhouse measures approx. 13.5″ wide by 12″ tall and 7.5″ for the depth. Enjoy!

Now let’s add some details! You can find the accents/playhouse accessories HERE.
Thank you for this pattern. How did you attach the roof? Not sure if I missed it but I can’t see instructions on that under the Construction section.
I used hot glue to attach the roof 🙂
Do you still have the link for the accessories page? I tried getting to it today, as I want to try to make a gingerbread house, but it says error 😣 I would really love to make one, if your pattern is still available
Yes I do! Sorry, I don’t know why the link is not working. Here is the pattern: https://traversebaycrochet.com/crochet-gingerbread-playhouse/
This one worked!! Thank you very much 😊
I am confused on what size hook to use. When is it G, H, I? I only see I hook being used but it isn’t even mentioned in the beginning. Please help!
The I hook is used for making the body of the playhouse and the size G and H hooks for the accessories. There is a separate post at the bottom that links to all the accessories. The hook size to use will be listed in bold. Sorry for any confusion, hope this helps!
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to get started.
This is absolutely adorable. Even though I have no small children, I still want to make it.
Thank you.
Thank you! I put mine up as decoration when my kids aren’t playing with it 🙂
