Create these super cute crochet toddler cupcake mittens (ages 2-4)!

These mittens feature the crocodile stitch to create cute ruffle detail, sure to make your little one smile! These mittens work up fast and use a small amount of medium worsted weight yarn in 4 colors and size I crochet hook.

The finished mitten measures 3″ wide and 6″ from the cuff to the top of the mitten (doesn’t include the cherry). Make it a set with the matching cupcake hat pattern HERE. Enjoy the free patterns!

Materials:

Yarn- medium worsted weight yarn (I used Bernat Pop), small amount of 4 colors and scrap yarn for “sprinkles”
Hook size: I, 5.5 mm
Blunt needle

Abbreviations:

st(s)- stitch(es)
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
sl st- slip stitch
lp- loop
sc2tog- single crochet two together

For the cuff:

Ch 8

Row 1-14: Sc in back loops, ch 1, turn.

Fold in half and sl st ends together through both loops.

Right and left hand:

Row 1: Ch 1, evenly space 21 sc around (21).

Row 2: Switch to new color, ch 3, dc in same st, *skip 2 sts, 2 dc in next, skip 2 sts, 2 dc in next*, repeat * to end of row, sl st to join.

Row 3: Ch 3, 4 dc in first post (work sideways, you’ll be going down the first post and working up the other side), ch 1, 5 dc on the next post, ch 1, *5 dc in next post, ch 1, 5 dc in next post, ch 1* repeat * to end, sl st to join.

Row 4: Sc 18 sts around (18).

Row 5: Switch to new color, in back loops only 2 sc, sc 8, 2 sc, sc 8 (20).

Continue to work in the round, add stitch marker here to keep track of rows. Work in back loops only for the rest of the pattern.

Row 6-9: Sc round in blo (20).

Row 10: Sc2tog, sc 3, repeat 3 times, sc last st (16).

Row 11: Sc2tog, sc 2, repeat 3 times, sc2tog (12).

Row 12: Sc2tog, sc 1, repeat 3 times, sc 2 (8).

Now is a good time to add “sprinkles.” Thread yarn through darning needle and sew in and out to create sprinkles around the cupcake. Fasten off on the inside of the mitten.

Row 13: Sc2tog 4 times (4).

Fasten off, sew top together and weave in ends.

Thumb:

Pull up lp in any of the large holes above the cuff. Sc 8 sts evenly around the hole.

Rows 1-3: sc in each st around (8).

Row 4: Sc2tog 4 times, fasten off and weave in ends.

Cherry:

Ch 3, Sl st to join (3).

Row 1: 2 sc in each st around (6). Continue to work in the round.

Row 2-3: Sc in each st around (6).

Row 4: Sc2tog 3 times, fasten off and weave in ends.

Pin it for later!

Hi! Make your own stitches in the top of row 3. Sc 18 sts evenly around, they will be close together. Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
