Toddler Crochet Cupcake Hat

 

Create this adorable toddler crochet cupcake hat! So cute and sure to delight your little one! This pattern uses medium worsted weight yarn in 3 colors and size I crochet hook. The final hat measures 6.5″ across the top and 7″ long.

Materials: 

Yarn- medium worsted weight yarn (I used Bernat Pop) in 3 colors, long strand of contrasting yarn for “sprinkles” and a small amount of red yarn for the cherry

Hook size: I, 5.5 mm

Blunt needle

 

Abbreviations:

ch- chain
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
blo- back loop only
st(s): stitch(es)
fpdc: front post double crochet
sl st- slip stitch

 

The pattern:

Start with a magic circle and ch 2.

Dc 8 into the circle and sl st to join.

Row 1: Ch 2, 2 dc in BLO around.

***you will continue to work in the back loops only through row 7***

Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc, dc in next, repeat around, sl st to join.

Row 3: Ch 2, 2 dc, dc in next 2 sts, repeat around, sl st to join.

Row 4: Ch 2, 2 dc, dc in next 3 sts, repeat around, sl st to join.

Row 5: Ch 2, dc around.

Rows 6-7: Switch to new color, dc around.

Row 8: Switch to new color, fpdc, dc in next, repeat around.

Rows 9-11: Ch 2: Fpdc around fpdc from previous row, dc in next, repeat around.

Row 12: Ch 1, sc around. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

 

Sprinkles:

Cut a long strand of contrasting color yarn. With darning needle weave in and out on the top part of the hat for the “sprinkles”. Fasten off on the inside of the hat and weave in ends.

 

 

Cherry:

Ch 4, Sl st to join (4).

Row 1: 2 sc in each st around (8). Continue to work in the round.

Row 2-3: Sc in each st around (8).

Row 4: Sc2tog 3 times, fasten off and weave in ends.
