My Favorite Crochet Dishcloth

The dishcloth measures approx 6.5″ X 6.5″. You can make the dishcloth smaller or larger by chaining less or more chains at the beginning (the number needs to stay even).

Abbreviations:

ch= chain

sc= single crochet

st(s)= stitch(es)

hk= hook

Materials:

  • Size G hook, 4.25 mm
  • 100% cotton yarn (I used 1 ball Lily’s Sugar N’ Cream 2.5 oz skein, 1 skein will make 2 dishcloths)
  • blunt needle

Pattern:

CH 30

Row 1: Sc in second ch from the hk, ch 1, *skip next st, sc in next, ch 1*, repeat from * ending with a sc in last gap, ch 1 and sc in the last st at the very end.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first gap space between the two single crochets from the previous row, ch 1, *sc in next gap, ch 1*, repeat from * ending with a sc.

Repeat row 2, 22 more times.

Edging: Ch 7, sl st in same st. Continue to sc around the dishcloth with 2 sc in each of the 3 corners. After sc the last row, sl st in the same st that you made the loop. Sc 7 times into the loop and sl st in the same stitch again and fasten off. Weave in end.
