Surface crochet fingerless gloves

Surface Crochet Fingerless Gloves

Playing with colors and inspiration led me to create a colorful surface crochet fingerless gloves pattern, perfect for any chilly day!

All you need to know is how to change colors, increase and basic surface slip stitch crochet (if your not sure, there are tons of YouTube videos on this!).

The fingerless gloves can be worn on either side. The head wrap can be worn with the button facing the back or front, it’s up to you. Very cute set!

Materials:

  • Hook size I, 5.5 mm
  • medium worsted weight yarn in 3 colors
  • Blunt needle

For the cuff (both hands):

With color A, ch 10

Row 1-20: Sc in each st across, ch 1 turn, repeat.

Fold cuff in half, sl st through both loops to end, ch 1.

Body for the right hand:

Evenly sc 25 sts around, sl st to join (25).

Row 1: Switch to color B, ch 2, dc 13, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, dc 9, sl st to join (27).

Row 2: Switch to color C, ch 2, dc 13, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, dc 11, sl st to join (29).

Row 3: Switch to color A, ch 2, dc 13, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, dc 13, sl st to join (31).

Row 4: Ch 2, dc 13, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, dc 15, sl st to join (33).

Row 5: Ch 2, dc 11, skip 10 sts for thumb, sc 12, sl st to join (23).

Row 6: Switch to color B, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23).

Row 7: Switch to color C, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23).

Row 8: Switch to color A, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23). Do not fasten off, you will come back and work another round after completing the sl st rows.

Body for the left hand:

Evenly sc 25 sts around, sl st to join (25).

Row 1: Switch to color B, ch 2, dc 23, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, sl st to join (27).

Row 2: Switch to color C, ch 2, dc 25, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, sl st to join (29).

Row 3: Switch to color A, ch 2, dc 27, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, sl st to join (31).

Row 4: Ch 2, dc 29, 2 dc in next, dc 2, 2 dc in next, sl st to join (33).

Row 5: Ch 2, dc 23, skip 10 sts for thumb, sl st to join (23).

Row 6: Switch to color B, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23).

Row 7: Switch to color C,  ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23).

Row 8: Switch to color A, ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st to join (23). Do not fasten off, you will come back and work another round after completing the sl st rows.

For both hands:

Sl st rows: Evenly space 5 rows (space rows with 2 dc sts in between each row).

Start a sl st at the finger end of the glove and loosely sl st yarn drawing up a lp from the inside of the glove and sl stitching in a straight line down to the first row.

Fasten off leaving a long tail (about 5 inches). Once 5 rows are done, weave in each tail on the inside of the glove with a blunt needle.

Row 9: Ch 2, hdc around sealing in the loose tails at the top. Fasten off, weave in end.

Thumb:

Pull up a lp through the first and last st, ch 2. (10).

Row 1-2: Dc around (8). Fasten off, weave in end.
